About

Afloat Communications was founded by Shih-Kai Wu Papic amidst his last semester of undergraduate studies as a Business & Marketing major at NYU. This website aims to become a community for like-minded individuals who have various interests in anything that is marketing related.

Marketing plays a big part across all industries in the way that every business, every person is trying to achieve one thing: spread their word. Whether it’s a musician trying to publish their music, a journalist trying to inform people on the latest news, or a business trying to make a sale. All processes involve marketing.

As of 2024, Afloat features a Business section, Music section, and News section.

Business

The business section offers posts that focus on analyzing the marketing strategies being used by companies today. Ranging from big and small companies alike, every one of these firms is in the constant process of repositioning themselves to better serve their customers. The objective of these posts is to educate the reader (you) about why do companies decide to do what they do.

Music

The music section focuses on the more artistic approach to marketing in the music industry. The posts that exist under this category will feature music artists and their experiences throughout their music making career. By the time the reader is done reading these posts, they too will be able to jumpstart their own music career in this industry.

Video Games

The video games industry is entirely focused on the business side of video games. This is one of the most fascinating topics to talk about, the youngest generations grew up playing video games. If games are so much fun, why not learn how to make money out of it?

News

The news section features handcrafted news made and published by young journalists themselves. These news go beyond the limitations of typical business topics, covering political issues, social issues, as well as environmental issues worldwide. The importance of staying up to date with what goes on in today’s world greatly affects how a marketing strategy needs to be executed.
